The term ‘Repairer’ means any person who carries out the process of repairing a measure or weight and it includes such person who paints, cleans, adjusts and/or lubricates a kind of weights or measures to ensure that they work properly as per the established standards and benchmarks under the act.
Due to the very sensitive and important nature of weighing and measurement, the Department of Metrology has a set of clearly defined regulations and rules for people and companies who involve themselves in the process of repairing and services of measuring and weighing instruments that fall under the purview of the Department of Legal Metrology. It is mandated that no person shall repair or service any kind of weighing or measuring instruments without first obtaining the license from the Department of Metrology first.
