Dealer license

The term ‘Dealer’ means, in the context of weight or measure, a person or a business that carries out selling, trading, marketing or distribution of weights or measures for cash or deferred payment to a person other than a dealer from a commission agent, an importer, or a manufacturer.

Dealer license is issued to those companies that are involved in the process of marketing and trading weights and measures. As such, without the required license no company or person can involve in any of the above said processes. If a person or company intends to sell and market weights and measures, he or the company needs to obtain the dealer license from the officer of the concerned location where the dealer intends to trade and market the products from.

Process Involved in getting a Dealer license

Step #1: 

The first step involves, in the case of obtaining lic ense for dealer, submitting the duly filled out application supported by all the required documents to the Assistant Controller (Flying Squad) of the respective district after the required license fee is paid.
Step #2: 

Once the application is submitted, the Assistant Controller or the Regional Deputy Controller will assess your application and scrutinize all of the documents to ensure their authenticity and accuracy. Once the same is done, the application will be forwarded to the Controller of the Department of Legal Metrology.
Step #3: 

The next step includes the inspection of the site and field verification carried out by any of the concerned officials of the department.
Step #4: 

This is the last step of the process where the Controller, Legal Metrology Department issues the license as needed by the applicant.
