Why the Amendment Matters

Employee wellness requires clean restrooms, drinking water, rest and lunch rooms, and first aid. These policies boost employee productivity, satisfaction, and engagement by improving their physical and emotional health.
This modification follows the global trend of labour legislation recognising employee rights and welfare. The Legislative Assembly is showing its commitment to international standards and keeping Tamil Nadu a business-friendly state by adding these clauses to the Shops and Establishments Act.
